1. Educational use and authorization
Thinklets is an educational practice service operated by R.D. Mathison. Instructors must be authorized to use the service with their students and follow their institution’s policies. Before creating student accounts or directing students to sign up, instructors must obtain any required school, parent or guardian authorizations. A student’s checkbox does not replace any legally required adult consent or school authorization. Students must use the service with their instructor’s or parent/guardian’s permission.
2. Accounts and instructor verification
Provide accurate instructor registration details and an email address you control. Instructor signup requires email verification. Verified .org addresses qualify for automatic activation; other addresses require site-administrator approval. Students must use an active class code supplied by an instructor. Keep passwords and class codes secure, do not share accounts, and do not impersonate another person or institution.
3. Student privacy and FERPA
Do not publicly post or share private student information, education records, or personally identifiable information from those records through profiles, usernames, trainer names, thinklet nicknames, or community features. Use non-identifying student aliases instead of full names or contact information. Instructors must protect dashboard information and printed or exported reports and must not share them with unauthorized people. Where the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) applies, disclosures of personally identifiable information from education records require the appropriate consent unless a lawful exception applies. Instructors and institutions are responsible for determining their authority to use this service and share student information, following applicable law and school policy, and obtaining required permissions. Agreeing to these terms does not itself authorize a FERPA disclosure or establish that the service meets a school’s legal or contractual requirements.
4. Appropriate names and conduct
All usernames, trainer/display names, thinklet nicknames, and other user-provided content must be appropriate for a K–12 educational environment. Profanity, sexual content, hateful or discriminatory language, threats, harassment, bullying, impersonation, and disclosure of private information are prohibited. Appropriateness is determined at the sole discretion of the site administrators. Instructors must actively supervise their students, must not permit inappropriate usernames or thinklet nicknames, and must promptly address or report inappropriate content. Students must follow their instructor’s directions and treat other players respectfully.
5. Fair play and security
Do not attempt to access another user’s account or private records, bypass restrictions, exploit bugs for rewards, disrupt the service, or use automated tools to cheat. Report suspected account misuse or inappropriate content to your instructor or the site administrator. Instructors should contact the site administrator when they cannot resolve an issue within their class. All work must be completed independently and reflect the student’s own understanding and progress. Do not Google answers, use search engines, AI answer tools, answer keys, another person, or other outside sources to obtain answers or have problems solved for you. Built-in learning supports and instructor-authorized accommodations may be used, but submitted answers must represent your own work. Thinklets is designed to reflect students’ own independent work and progress.
6. Moderation and access restrictions
Site administrators may require changes to names or content, remove inappropriate content, restrict features, suspend or terminate accounts, or take other reasonable action to enforce these terms and protect the learning environment. Instructors may place learning prerequisites on adventure progress or freeze accounts in their own classes. Contact your instructor or the site administrator to discuss a restriction or request review. Unusual progress, including progress far beyond a student’s demonstrated or expected independent performance, may be flagged for instructor or site-administrator review. Unusual progress alone is not proof of cheating. Flagged accounts may be frozen or restricted while reviewed, and progress may be reset when appropriate. Repeated violations of the independent-work rules may result in account deletion. Students may ask their instructor or a site administrator to review a flag or explain their work.
7. Learning records and availability
Practice scores, progress, battle results, and rewards are learning and gameplay indicators, not a substitute for an educator’s assessment. Features and availability may change, and uninterrupted access or preservation of every gameplay event is not guaranteed. Nothing in these terms removes rights or obligations that cannot lawfully be waived.
8. Terms version and questions
